Wedge Comparison
Microvision provides two different multiplatform software wedge solutions: Scanner Wedge and SerialMagic Pro.

Scanner Wedge provides basic wedge capabilities and is available for Windows, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry. SerialMagic Pro provides full featured wedge software available for Windows, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, Palm OS and Symbian.

Use Scanner Wedge software if all you need is:

  • Bar code data to show up in a text field
  • The ability to add a keystroke (like Enter, TAB, Ctrl, etc) after
    a barcode is scanned

Use SerialMagic Pro if you also need:

  • Bar codes to show up in a specific application, in a specific field,
    based on a pattern in my bar code
  • Audible or vibrating notices of bar code scans or scanner connections
  • Scan into spreadsheets (create columns, etc)
  • More advanced features (in the table below)
