U.S. Web Store Opens Today For SHOWWX

Hi Everyone.  As the product manager for the SHOWWX, I’m pleased to post this announcement that the U.S. launch of the SHOWWX laser pico projector will start today!  In fact, we announced two SHOWWX product offerings to support our introduction in the United States.  Here is the press release we issued this morning.

First, for a limited time starting today we are making available the Limited Edition SHOWWX bundle, priced at $999. The Limited Edition SHOWWX bundle features a personalized splash screen bearing the name of its owner, a SHOWWX with chrome Limited Edition insignia, a SHOWWX VGA dock, car charger, leather carrying pouch, flexible tripod stand, and a signed certificate of authenticity.  Orders will be accepted starting today at 12 noon EST, via Microvision’s web store store: http://www.microvision.com/showwx Note that the web pages detailing the Limited Edition bundle and web store where you can make a purchase will not be accessible until 12 noon EST.

Then, starting on March 24 at 12 noon EST, we plan to open the web store to U.S. customers for orders for the Standard Edition SHOWWX. The Standard Edition SHOWWX will be available for $549. Optional accessories will be available for purchase.

We’re excited to open up our SHOWWX web store to U.S. customers.

    Another question, initially, the product was launched with blue as the only option. Will additional colors, specifically black, be available for the Standard release on March 24th? Thanks.

    I see that this device supports iPod. Will it also support the iPhone 3Gs ver 3.1.2? That is the device that I am using and am thinking about the pico for teaching my EMT Class so I dont have to lug around my projector and laptop. Just pop 2 things in my pocket and I am ready to hit the road.

    While the limited edition bundle is a nice touch, don’t you think that practically double the price is a little excessive? Do you honestly see a lot of people buying the limited edition bundle for $999 when the MSRP was originally projected to be under $500?

    Great news. My enthusiasm was deflated with the $999 price tag – hopefully I can talk myself into the standard edition. But why so mysterious – “U.S. VIP members will be offered an opportunity to order standard edition SHOWWX prior to general market availability. Please watch your email for details later in March!” Why not now?

  14. Microvision: Viral Marketing Channel Strategy at Work

    I don’t think I’m alone in saying that …

    “Viral Marketing is a valid distribution channel in this Internet age and should be part of every company’s product and services marketing strategy.”

    In case of Microvision, the concept of creating VIP membership is in effect the company’s viral marketing strategy… and it is already in place.

    The viral effect will come into more aggressive play once the VIPs [about 10,000 of us] get our SHOWwx PicoP projectors. Each one of us has at least 100 people in our center of influence. So, over 1 million people [10,000 x 100 = 1,000,000] will get to know SHOWwx first hand from us… the VIPs. And those 1 million people have, I’m sure, 50 people in their center of influence. Well, now that’s 50 million people that would come to know about SHOWwx and Microvision… the company behind this amazing laser PicoP projection technology.

    In about six months there could be over a billion people that have been touched by SHOWwx… and have also come to know about Microvision.

    Here’s another example of super-charged viral marketing at work…

    One gentleman investor of Microvision, Mr. Henderson, bought his SHOWwx laser PicoP projector from Spain and paid a premium for it. Now that is the act of a highly motivated investor who wanted to, as part of his due diligence, see the product first hand to continue or not, I guess, with his investment in the MVIS stock.

    In summary, this is what he did after he received his SHOWwx in the mail…

    “He received his SHOWwx from the distributor in Spain yesterday or the day before. He then single handedly produced a You Tube video of his experience with SHOWwx and then published it over the Internet for us to experience and share his enthusiasm.”

    That’s an example of highly motivated and focused viral marketing. In this case, Mr. Henderson has gone beyond his center of influence [of say hundreds] to touch tens of thousands on the Internet.

    Bravo Mr. Henderson, you just set the viral marketing rolling in the second gear.

    At this stage, Microvision can further enhance this viral marketing strategy by adding the following programs to its marketing arsenal…

    • An affiliate program to embrace thousands of web site owners… by offering a 3% commission on such web site originated sales.

    • An “opt-in” e-mail marketing campaign to a few hundred million… similar to the e-mail that was sent to VIPs recently.

    • Sign-up network marketers like “Market America” that has over 500,000 networking sales reps.

    That’s a good start to viral marketing channel… and it doesn’t have to cost much to implement.

    Results could be wildly huge… in terms of product demand created and the enhanced margins opportunity due to limited intervention by the middlemen.

    “They should include a two share MVIS stock certificate [total cost $6] with the Limited Edition SHOWwx bundle. Some day [in the next 5 years] that stock certificate could be worth $1,000… now that’s value. I bet you, the Limited Edition sales will grow ten fold… if not more

    Gentlemen:

    I have not heard a thing about my suggestion; to include two share MVIS stock certificate with the Limited Edition SHOWwx bundle.

    I know you folks are busy, and I’m sure the idea of giving away two share MVIS stock certificate may not be too appealing. But, think about the viral effect of such an offer. The idea of offering Limited Edition SHOWwx at premium prices is an ingenious idea in the realm of Gorilla Marketing. The offer of two share MVIS stock certificate to go with the Limited Edition bundle just puts wings on this Gorilla at the edge of the cliff… that given a little push, it may just fly farther.

    Including two share MVIS stock certificate [total cost $6] with the Limited Edition has perceived value far beyond the intrinsic value of the stock. The stock itself could become a collector’s item worth holding for posterity. Microvision will create history in the next few years and some day [in the next 5 years] that stock certificate could be worth $1,000… now that’s value. I bet you, the Limited Edition sales will grow ten fold… if not more.

    So, this is what I suggest…

    If it helps, I would personally offer the two share MVIS stock certificate to the first 1,000 buyers of Limited Edition SHOWwx purchased after March 15th.

    In the future, when Microvision becomes rich and famous, you could return these shares to me… with a multiplier if you like.

    Let imagination engage viral marketing and accelerate in the next higher gear.
