Well, it wasn’t easy. Dealing with a fictitious villain. During our tense meeting atop the Space Needle in Seattle, the opening conversation went something like this:
Dr. Evil: You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have pico projectors with frickin’ laser beams! My cycloptic colleague informs me that that cannot be done. Ah, would you remind me what I pay you people for, honestly? Throw me a bone here! What do we have?
Me: Microvision
Dr. Evil: Are they ill tempered?
Me: Absolutely.
Dr. Evil: Oh well, that’s a start.
Within a few hours, the deal was sealed. We had convinced the nemesis of a swingin’ movie spy to send his bald-headed, gray-tunicked and facially-scarred (but oddly alluring) double to Las Vegas to help represent our SHOWWX laser, yes LASER, pico projector as it vies for the title of “Last Gadget Standing” at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Unfortunately, the famous Dr. Evil could not be persuaded to make his sidekicks and henchmen part of the agreement, so that’s where you, dear Displayground readers, come in. If you’ll be in Las Vegas this week, raise your pinky finger — as well as the rest of your hand — to help Dr. Evil crown our SHOWWX the “Last Gadget Standing” on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Jan. 9, in Room N255-257, in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s North Hall.
And if you can’t join for the “Last Gadget Standing” finale, then the Dr. will also be visiting at the Microvision booth on the show floor. You’ll find ‘him,’ and the SHOWWX team from Microvision, at Booth #3617, LVCC North Hall during show hours, Thursday-Saturday.
As the good Dr. says about the SHOWWX, “It’s so cool, it’s evil!”
Stay tuned for more posts coming from CES and Las Vegas.
