BOTHELL, Wash., Apr 24, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Microvision, Inc.
(Nasdaq:MVIS), a leader in light scanning technologies, today announced that it
has been awarded ISO 9001 certification.
The ISO 9001 standard, established by the International Standards Organization,
is a quality management system that sets a global standard for manufacturing and
quality assurance processes and ensures a company’s products and services are
among the best in the world.
To qualify for ISO 9001 Certification, Microvision met rigorous standards in
quality management systems, management responsibility, resource management,
product realization, and measurement analysis and improvement. ISO 9001
certification recognizes Microvision’s engineering skills, critical design
practices, concentrated management focus and worldwide deployment of the
company’s display and imaging products and services.
“Achieving ISO 9001 certification is excellent for an operation that is growing
as quickly as ours,” said Saul Kinderis, manager of quality systems at
Microvision. “As any company that has been through the process knows, achieving
ISO 9001 certification is demanding. Each individual and operation must be
dedicated to the pursuit of quality. By scrutinizing our organization at every
level, we assure our customers that we are committed to providing them with
superior customer service and the highest quality products. Our implementation
team and employees’ level of commitment and knowledge about ISO 9001 principles
were an important factor in the independent audit team’s unanimous favorable
assessment.
“More and more companies are requiring that their suppliers demonstrate a
pervasive commitment to quality,” Kinderis said. “As a technology company
focused on consistently delivering top-quality products and service, we pursued
ISO 9001 certification because it is internationally recognized and provides
proof to our customers that we have one of the highest levels of quality
management a company can achieve.”
Given today’s highly competitive technology industry, service and product
quality are critical to success, noted Bill Sydnes, chief operating officer for
Microvision. “Our achievement of ISO 9001 certification complements our
technology leadership position and is testimony to Microvision’s commitment to
excellence and ability to deliver solutions of the highest quality. Microvision,
and our customers and partners, benefit from our ISO 9001 certification through
greater business efficiencies.”
