BOTHELL, Wash., Apr 11, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Microvision, Inc. (NASDAQ:MVIS), the world leader in the
development of high-resolution displays and imaging systems, today
announced it has earned certified status in Microsoft Corp.’s Partner
Program for the Flic Laser Bar Code Scanner. The certification
recognizes Microvision’s expertise and total impact in the technology
marketplace. As a Certified Partner, Microvision through its Flic
Scanner has demonstrated expertise with Microsoft technologies and
proven ability to meet customer needs. Microsoft Certified Partners
receive a rich set of benefits, including access, training and support
that give them a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Microvision’s image capture technology has applications in a broad
range of commercial, military, medical, industrial, professional and
consumer applications. The company’s commercial image capture product,
the Flic Laser Bar Code Scanner, works out of the box with Microsoft
products and technology, and is an ideal solution for development
partners and purchasing sectors as they target price sensitive
applications that can benefit from the Flic Scanner integrated to a
wide range of Microsoft enabled mobile devices. The Flic Scanner
offers the right set of performance features at a low price for cost
sensitive applications in a variety of industries.
The Flic Scanner features a patent-pending, low-cost,
shock-resistant, mechanical/magnetic laser scan engine. This simple,
yet elegant design enables Microvision to deliver a true laser scanner
that works in either batch or tethered mode for less than the price of
most CCD scanners, and a wireless scanner at less than half the price
of many wireless scanners. The Flic Scanner reads most popular bar
code symbols, including UPC/EAN/JAN, Code 39, Code 128, RSS, and
Interleaved 2 of 5.
“Only companies that have demonstrated high levels of customer
service, proved their experience and attained advanced certification
receive the designation of Microsoft Certified Partner,” said Allison
Watson, vice president of the Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing
Group at Microsoft. “Today, Microsoft recognizes Microvision for its
skills and expertise in providing customer satisfaction with Microsoft
products and technology.”
“We are extremely pleased to have earned certified status in the
Microsoft Partner Program. The certified status allows us to clearly
promote our expertise and relationship with Microsoft to our
customers,” said Jacques Lincoln, Channel and Alliance Marketing
Manger at Microvision. “The benefits provided through our certified
membership will allow us to continue to enhance the offerings that we
provide for customers. Additionally, the software development tools we
provide based on Microsoft’s operating systems allows the software
development community to integrate the Flic Laser Bar Code Scanner
quickly and easily on Microsoft platforms and with Microsoft
productivity applications.”
The Microsoft Partner Program was launched in December 2003 and
represents Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to the success of partners
worldwide. The Microsoft Partner Program offers a single, integrated
partnering framework that recognizes partner expertise, rewards the
total impact that partners have in the technology marketplace, and
