BOTHELL, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 16, 2004–Microvision, Inc.
(Nasdaq:MVIS), a leader in light scanning technologies, has been
included in the 2004 Technology Innovation Winners announced yesterday
by the Wall Street Journal, one of the world’s leading business
publications. The awards recognize technological breakthroughs by
individuals, companies and organizations around the world. The judges
selected Gold, Silver and Bronze winners overall, as well as a winner
in each of 12 industry categories. They also chose 23 runners-up and 2
honorable mentions. The company was chosen as a runner-up in the
Wireless category for its Nomad Expert Technician System, the world’s
first wearable computer with a head-worn see-through display that
enables workers to connect to their networks wirelessly and receive
information at the point of task.
The Journal received 585 applications from more than 24 countries.
Wall Street Journal editors selected 120 semifinalists with the
winners being selected by an independent panel of judges that included
business leaders from around the world. Three factors were considered
most crucial in selecting the winners: first, innovations needed to
address major challenges for which new solutions would have wide
impact; second, innovations should go well beyond what already exists
and cannot simply represent incremental improvements and finally,
entries needed to be supported by rigorous data on their real-word
experience rather than unsubstantiated claims of potential. The full

“We’re honored to be included with this select group of exciting
and innovative technology companies,” stated Rick Rutkowski,
Microvision CEO. “This acknowledgment comes on the heels of the IEEE’s
Spectrum Magazine naming of Microvision as one of the ‘ten tech
companies for the next 10 years’ and Hearst Publication’s Motor
Magazine Top 20 Tool Award for our Nomad Expert Technician System.
These awards and acknowledgments are consistent with the positive
feedback we are getting from the market regarding our technology and
powerful products.”
